You love the word detour don’t you? I like the horned ones detour. I’ll consider that.

The Devil’s Redemption

Please don’t say “fiction novel.” That’s like saying a music song. If it’s a novel, it’s fiction by definition.

Both of those titles sound good. If I were looking at titles in a bookstore or online, I’d be more attracted by The Thief of Life.

While you’re working on it, any working title will do just as a placeholder; you may change your mind before you’re done. If it came to publication, your publisher would probably want to discuss title choices.

I too would not waste any energy on the title now. Get on with the writing. The novel may decide that it wants to go in a different direction from the one you have planned now.

IMHO The Devil’s Redemption is far better than The Thief of Life. In either case, I think I’d drop ‘The’. If you don’t for the first, you might confuse readers into thinking they’ll be reading about the Devil…
The Thief of Life makes me think that the protagonist took a life. If they did, then you’ve given away part of your story. If they didn’t, it’s a misleading title.
Can’t think of a better title off the top of my head…

Another thought; what about the title ‘The Green Door’ representing the transition from normal life to criminality and back again. Your heroine goes through a green door to a room where she is tempted to begin her life of crime and just when it seems she is beyond redemption she passes through another green door and experiences something that puts her back on the straight and narrow.

How about Gone With The Wind?

@Rheto_Ric It actually wouldn’t give away the story because that’s all its about. No one is killed in the story but in a sense their life is taken away… their innocents… their ability to live care free and happy.
@filmfann ??? That’s already a very well know title to a book….
