@zensky They aren’t really that popular, not when compared to superstars like Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga. Everyone knows who they are, but I can’t think of one person who lists them as their favorite band, or who would go to their concerts (that isn’t someone who goes to all the concerts, regardless of who’s playing). People don’t wear Nickelback shirts the way they do with Pink Floyd, or Led Zepplin, or the Stones… Nickelback is just really “fine”, except that they’ve somehow become a rallying point for those who aren’t fine with “fine”, so they get demonized as “the worst thing ever”. The vocals are crap, fine, but so are the vocals on tons and tons of popular artists, and they aren’t more crap than all the other bands out there (looking at you, Red Hot Chili Peppers). So it is strange that Nickelback gets all this backlash when others who are just as bad or worse do not.
