That is cruel. many species of penguin are monogamous. I cant believe the zoo would do that.
Also if they are gay, surely they wont want to mate with females anyway. And what is the use of an African penguin breeding program in Canada. There is fantastic work being done by SANCCOB in Cape Town, saving these birds, I have been there and done volunteer work. They don’t have a breeding program but rather rehabilitate penguins and other seabirds and also raise awareness in the area where these birds are native. One pair of male penguins in Canada isn’t going to make much difference to the population now is it.
I am definitely against splitting these guys up.
