This isn’t the type of stem cell research that is so controversial.
This is not Embryonic Stem Cell treatment, which was partially banned from federal funding. But it was never illegal for state funding or private research. Embryonic stem cells that scientists study come from early-stage embryos. It’s just controversial and doesn’t hold as much promise as other types of stem cell treatments. And if one follows the money trail, a case could be made that Embryonic research is just a money pit designed to attain perpetual funding from research that will never produce. In Missouri, after Amendment 2 passed a few years ago, it was written into the law that it could NEVER be overturned. And they had to redefine the formal definition of cloning to make it pass. It’s all a scam that just sucks up public funds for nothing. A clear case of Gov being in bed with Big Gen Big Pharm. More money was spent trying to get this law to pass than all other Missouri laws combined. It’s a joke.
_____
But this story is a different type of treatment. One that shows real progress and has NEVER been controversial. From the article, “doctors are starting to use a patient’s own cardiac stem cells to help repair their hearts”.
There are many reasons to support Adult and/or Pluripotent Stem Cell research.
