@Mantralantis – I won’t say too much about the film because I don’t want to ruin it. Let’s just say that I was in complete awe when I saw it, despite already being a fan of Charlie Kaufman. It’s one of the most ambitious films, and it did exactly what I want a film to do: it made me think, it resonated in some deep way, and it lingers with me today (over a year after I saw it).
If it helps to get an idea of my tastes, I’m also a huge fan of Jarmusch, David Lynch, Wes Anderson, and the Coen brothers.
Also, I agree when Ebert in his review states:
“I think you have to see Charlie Kaufman’s “Synecdoche, New York” twice. I watched it the first time and knew it was a great film and that I had not mastered it. The second time because I needed to. The third time because I will want to.”
He went as far as to declare it the best film of the decade.
