I am in the process of applying for a Masters in Architecture, and I’m wondering if any of you have attended grad school in architecture and could describe the program you were in.

I’m looking at UC Berkeley primarily, due to their training their students to be designers, and their focus on sustainability and activism in architecture. Also the program, so far as I know, is not as structured and allows the student breathing space to get the education they desire out of their masters program.

I am curious about Harvard, and the University of Oregon. I do not know much about their architecture grad programs, and it’s not always easy to figure it out based on the websites.

Any info on grad achitecture schools is appreciated!

I am unsure what specifically you are looking for beyond what their websites detail.
Also consider:
Boston Architectural
Have you considered Chicago as well? Many great Schools there.
UIC for only one of many

I want to know things like, is it design oriented? Is it more hands-on? Is it more research oriented? What is it good preparation for? What’s missing? Does it deal with sustainability? Does it focus more on structure? Does it lean toward corporate architecture? Is it more artsy? Or in general, what sort of architect does the program train you to be?
