Did you ever tell words of wisdom when you were younger?

“Great Question” (1points)

When I was a young kid, about 5–6, I used to be content and reasonable. Reason was everything to me. If I wanted to do something wrong, I would ask why it is wrong, and If the answer is reasonable I would accept it. I barely cried or got mad.

When I was 14, my parents insulted me and accused me. They told me I was wasting money all the time. They hit me, yelled at me and made that day a hell… I knew I did not deserve it, I never spend my money on anything I do not need. So that night, my father was feeling guilt, and he tried to talk to me. He told me he doesn’t like my mother, and made a mistake by marrying him. He was crying. I told him; “You don’t have to be in love with the person you marry. With years, the power of love won’t stay like it was before. It is rare. In your case, there must be respect. You must respect her because she is your wife, and I am your daughter.”

My father told me he understood who I was after that night.

Is this normal? Are all kids like this?

Children are like everyone else, some are more perceptive and able to articulate their thoughts and feelings better then others. I think most children are capable of profound understanding and moments of clarity. All three of my kids have taken me aback with off the cuff remarks that hit so close to home I sit back and marvel. Your father seems to have respected your feelings and handled the moment quite well.

Apparently (I don’t remember this), when I was a young child, maybe 2 or 3, I called my mum out on her anorexia. She used to get away with not eating by always saying she had eaten at the same time as me (being very young I was fed a lot earlier than everyone else). One day when she used this excuse for not joining the rest of the family for the main evening meal I piped up with “no you didn’t mummy”. That was when people started realising that she had a serious problem.

Well, that is definitley not abnormal. My younger siblings always come to me if they need help with something rather than go to my parents. At school, most of my classmates want my opinion on things because the think I’m ‘mature’.
I think you’re mature for your age and that is a very good quality to have. It will take you far in life. Being reasonable is not a characteristic many people are bestowed with.

No never. Being honest.

I do, plenty of times a day. My mom keeps a scrapbook of them all. Whether they be silly or not, they help you somehow in life.
