How do I install this application on my MacBook after I already canceled an installation?

“Great Question” (0points)

Yesterday I started doing a custom install of my brand-new copy of Logic Studio on my MacBook Pro. After 2 or 3 of the 8 discs had finished, I decided (perhaps foolishly) that I wanted to watch a DVD before the installation finished. So I clicked “cancel” and stopped the process. (In retrospect, I wish I hadn’t done this, but we can’t change the past.)

When I re-insert the first CD now, it doesn’t seem to remember that the installation has been partially done already. So I would like to do the whole thing over. But won’t that mean I’ll awkwardly have a duplicate of lots of the files?

If the answer is “Just delete all the installed files and start over,” my concern is that the files might be scattered throughout my computer and difficult to find.

So, what do I do now?

(By the way, I tried Googling and couldn’t find an answer. Apple’s support line is closed for the weekend.)

It will overrite them.

Ohhh, I see. Thanks!

Any program will either ask to or automatically overrite old files, this is exactly why.

Never. Do. Another. Thing. In. Your. Life. When. Installing. Heavy. Professional. Programs. Sit. There. And. Watch. It. Load. Boot. And. Start. Up.

And yes upon its overwriting, there will be no additional layers of Disk 1, 2 and etc.

Actually, if all that happens with the second install is that it overwrites everything in the previous (incomplete) install, I don’t see what’s so bad about canceling an installation.

@Jaltcoh
I’d second @whitetigress.
Some heavy duty programs – I’m looking at you, Photoshop – leave residual files after aborted installations that are nested deeply into the file structure. Some people have to do complete restores of their systems. Yuck! Having said that, the only issue you’ll probably encounter is duplicate loops. There are support pages on the Apple support portal that show you precisely where to find the files that Logic scatters around if you need to start fresh.

I hope the DVD was good :)
