Can I eat this salmon?
Ello. I bought wild caught salmon at the store 3–4 days ago and put it in the fridge immediately. I haven’t been home so I am just now wanting to eat it….it smells like salmon normally does and looks like it normally does…do you think it’s okay to eat? I should add that I am not a skeptic at all, I eat food off the ground and my cat-hair-y floor, and past the expiration date on things. I just am leaving town tomorrow, and I already have a cold, so this would not be an ideal time for me to get even sicker than I am. Any input? I trust my senses, so wouldn’t it smell like shit if it was bad? Help please, thank you :)

Feel it. If it feels in any way slimy, it’s no good. Otherwise it ought to be okay. I’ve eaten salmon that’s been in my fridge longer than 3 days, without any ill-effects.
@downtide Feeling the meat, it feels smooth, but not slimy, I don’t think? Not like…mucusy. Just smooth.
If it smells OK, it is OK to eat.
It smells as fishy as the fish section in the supermarket which I presume is okay.
I’d eat it ASAP and not worry. Two more days and I think you might be too late. Sounds good to me.
What store did you buy it? Hm, I grew up in Filipino culture and we freezing fish was normal. Should be super dope.
I ate it all and it was fine and really delicious. Just for future reference.
@deni Good for you! Problem solved.
I didn’t think wild salmon could be sold in stores. I thought it was all from salmon farms.
What a nice surprise!
