Below the wave base there is no movement of the water and the wave base is half the wavelength of the surface waves. There is no exact relationship between wave height and wavelength and so a wave height of 30 feet alone doesn’t tell us how deep the effects will be felt. A 30 foot high wave might have a wavelength of 570 feet and so the storm would be felt down to a depth of 285 feet.
