I used to love grape jelly when I was a little kid, but now it’s just too sweet and cloying.
I like orange marmalade the best, boysenberry jelly second best and strawberry preserves (but not the sugary goopy kind with the big chunks of strawerry). Trader Joe’s makes a really delicious strawberry preserve. Any of the seeded berries like blackberry or raspberry or boysenberry make terrific jelly. I guess I like my jams and jellies a little bit more tart and less sweet than grape jelly is.
If you want to taste a fantastic food combination, put a little bit of orange marmalade on a tortilla or a piece of toast with some feta cheese! It’s one of my top 10 flavor combos : ) And if you really want to make a gourmet wrap, add some fresh mint leaves and some chopped hazelnuts to that tortilla with the feta and marmalade.
