“Great Question” (0points)

I am getting ready to graduate with a BA in the Science of Criminal Justice, and I have always wanted to be a Private Investigator, however I was a victim of Identity Theft for 10 years (by the same person) anyways I would really like to be in a career that not only utilizes my education but allows me to somehow work to prevent, protect, investigate some type of fraud. How do I get my foot in the door and where.

depends on where you are. In Illinois you start by getting a permit from The Illinois department of regulation

You would do best to apprentice yourself to a larger private investigation firm, working under their license. That way you can learn the ropes, and then if you still feel the same way, you can go for your own license in a couple of years,

Citigroup has big offices there, with ID Theft investigations.

You are in the perfect city, because all of the casinos have full time crime prevention teams. Start by contacting the folks who work in those departments to see what you need to do. It sounds like a great career : )

Just bear in mind, if you work crime prevention for a casino, many of them will prohibit you from gambling while you are employed. Not just where you work, but anywhere in the state.

I watched a program on either Discovery or History channel and I can’t remember if that is just policy or Nevada state law.

@WestRiverrat An interesting thought! I’ve never heard that, but I’m gunna investigate a little cause I’m having a hard time coming up with why that would be…

I would think training in computers, cryptography, and cyber skill would be an absolute must.
