The pulp would be perfect for your compost pile and thence as an enrichment in your garden.

Check out the “rawfoods” channel on YouTube. There’s a video (among many) about making a cracker of sorts from dehydrated carrot pulp. Pulp is also good fodder for worm beds.

I mostly do 4 parts carrot and one part apple. “Mean green” is another common recipe.

The pulp is basically fiber, so I suppose you could use it to bulk up many dishes.

@gailcalled I’d like to incorporate the pulp into recipes for added fiber. I don’t compost anymore. Too many critters, too hot, sunny, sandy, too much yard maintenance already!
(have access to lots of local produce, year round.)

What kind of critters would find veggie and fruit pulp palatable?

Can’t you just heave the stuff into a back corner, behind a palm tree or cactus?

What kind of yard maintenance does a hot, sunny and sandy yard require? it’s not self-sustainable?

The burger idea is actually one I’ve done on occasion, however, I normally down the pulp with the juice.

@Hain_roo If we simply ate the veggies raw we’d be eating the pulp and wouldn’t give it a thought. I hate wasting food. I like the idea of mixing it with turkey. If you try it please let us know how it works.

Chickens might utilize certain pulps. They love most fruits and tomatos. Otherwise I’d compost it. Hey, I have a brand new Jack La Lane juicer I have used ONCE in a year. It’s a pain in the ass and too much trouble for me. I prefer to just eat my fruits & veggies and buy my juices. If anyone wants it let me know. lol

I juice regularly. I use the pulp for compost. I do not like the texture for any recipe whatsoever.

It’s just too mushy for meatloaf, soups, burgers-etc. I prefer grated or chunked veggies for those recipes, instead.

I’m not interested in composting, I would really like more suggestions on how to add the pulp to my diet :)

@LuckyGuy I’ll do that, making some burgers this afternoon with carrot, celery, onion and sage leaf pulp.
@gailcalled Sandy as in it’s FL. Possums, raccoons, skunks, armadillos, moles, rats, mice and squirrels rooted around in my compost and ate my veggies when I was veggie gardening. (nevermind the bugs and worms) There are several large raised flower gardens and twenty some odd trees dropping seeds, leaves, pinecones, citrus fruit, branches. Nevermind controlling the suckers and shoots. The grass, hedges and weeds grow crazy-fast and nasty vines like smilax, Virginia creeper, and ivy climb everything. I have a huge hedge of azaleas that run down my back fence and they attract their own special worm that has to be hand picked :/ I have several massive piles of leaves to bag right now, most weeks I have least 2 full cans and a stack of branches by the curb for the yard guys to haul off. I work them so hard I put a basket with ice and Cokes out every few months. That said, in the last couple years I just prefer to go the farmstand route.

@Hain_roo Pulp doesn’t taste good…the consistency just isn’t great for anything I refuse to eat things that don’t taste good ;) while being good for me.

@Hain_roo: OK, how about getting a goat (or two)?

No, really @Hain_roo…If you truly desire to eat the pulp you may want to go to your local bookstore and browse some of the juicing books. There are some good recipes for pulp. I have found them to be just okay.

Edit: I did find muffins made with carrot pulp alright . Not my favorite, but alright.

UPDATE: I made turkey burgers including a half cup of the pulp. Used my new Ninja (kidding) to blend it up well. Tastes like Garden Burgers only better :) PM me if you want the recipe.
