Early on in my last job, I was put on probation and forced to fill out a time sheet in 15 minute increments that documented what I was working on. It sucked donkey balls, but I discovered that I ended up getting more done when I was tracking my activity and constantly asking myself what I could get done in the next 15 minutes.
From this and your previous question, though, it sounds as if the real solution for you is to change course. Maybe check out a few books on the topic such as Roadtrip Nation, Gig, and one that I started recently What Should I Do With My Life by Po Bronson, which is full of examples of people who started out in one direction and ended up in something completely different.
