What are some secular songs that could sometimes be considered spiritually significant to you?
Making a very long story short, my family and I went to a very unusual church that instead of hymns, they played secular music that fit the message of the sermon.
The sermon was about accepting your geeky “loser” aspects of your personality you try to hide from the world because sometimes they may turn out to be your greatest strengths.
Two of the “hyms” in church were the following:
I Can Only be Me by Stevie Wonder
and a very surprising acoustic cover of Born This Way by Lady Gaga, including the lyrics ” No matter gay, straight or bi. Lesbian, transgendered life”.
I think this could have been uber tacky, but considering the the message, it was very fitting and I felt like I was experiencing these songs in a spiritual way I didn’t think possible.
So anyway, I was wondering if there were any songs that were definitely not meant to be religious that feel spiritual to you when you hear it.
