There is a constant glitch with fluther where if you have any two question titles the same, after you finish writing up your whole big question, and submiting it, you are sent to the other question with the same title. It doesn’t matter what you have as the content or tags, and it’s really damn annoying, especially if you’ve asked a lot of questions. Is there a way to fix this?

That’s not a glitch, it’s by design. Any question with identical wording will mess up the system. If you click your back button, you should end up back at the asking screen, where you can change your title a bit to get it through.

@augustlan That’s the thing, it totally wipes it out. You’d thik it would look at the actualy content, not just the title.

Ok, I just tested it. After you’ve entered a similar or identical title, it takes you to this screen, which alerts you to that fact. At that point, if you click the “previous” button (not the back button on your browser, I was wrong about that) it takes you back to the asking screen, where you can tweak the title.

It would be good if we explained that identical titles aren’t allowed, though. Since no active development is happening at the moment, I wouldn’t expect it to change any time soon. Sorry.

@augustlan Thay’s the thing, it never shows my one of my own, maybe they are too old and it doesn’t show it, oh well. Too bad we don’t have active dev going on anymore.

He he! It USUALLY takes me to that screen, @augustlan But to day I wanted to ask a question with the simple wording, “What are you?” I searched first to see if it had been asked. Indeed, a question with that exact same wording was asked back in April of last year. When I checked the question details, it was actually about something quite different, so I went ahead and posted my version here.

I got the page asking if it was the same as previous questions, but mysteriously the one with the exact same wording was not there, and the ones there were not even remotely close to the same. They were about totally off-the wall things and I can’t fathom how they got chosen as matches. Maybe the Fluther server is becoming self aware, and it’s having fun playing with our heads.
