(NSFW)The following link is a European PSA (Public Service Announcement) It transmits a powerful message. It would clearly not fly in the US. Why not?

I suspect that if she checked her breasts for lumps, everybody would nod in approval. But this would never see the light of day in the USA.

LOL! Troll Rhian is troll. It’s obvious why it won’t fly, because American media is afraid of “impurity”. Look at the comments to the video. A significant number responded with shock. People see balls everyday whether their own or in porn, so why is it crazy to see it in a commercial? Maybe people expect certain things from the media and this is just surprising? I was surprised because it was a cool twist that I’m not used to seeing on television, but if I did see it, I would laugh and that’s it.

And you might want to NSFW this.

Americans tend to be quite prudish in a bizarre way. They are largely obsessed with health and hygiene, but almost equally afraid to discuss anything having to do with genitals. Jokes about sex and masturbation are all well and good, but frank discussion of either is met with giggles or shushing. It’s like the country is overrun with 13-year-olds.

Not all Americans are like this, of course, but enough of them are—and enough of them seem to think that this childishness represents the only “morally decent” way to behave—that it is politically and economically unfeasible to run a PSA like this on television. Death before reason, I guess, or at least death before sexual openness.

I thought it was clever and funny but nope I wouldn’t want to see it on television anymore than I want to see a woman examining her breasts. I don’t think it is 13 year old behavior or prudishness, I simply feel there are some things that are a bit more private. The internet is fine, there could be a link to it advertised on the television, then it is a choice whether to watch it or not. I also object to people vomiting on television, such scenes seem to be in every show and movie these days. I think it is another aspect of humanity that is better kept private.
