What's the best way to copy most files from hfsplus to ext4 volume via terminal?

Hi!

I’ve recently set up a headless Ubuntu server. I’ve learned quite a lot about working with the terminal, but I’m struggling to find the best way to do the following.

I’ve got two external hard drives which are connected to the server. One is an HFS+ drive, the other I’ve formatted as ext4. The first drive is a downloads drive, on which some files are corrupted. I don’t particularly care for the corrupted files, but I need to copy the files which can be read, from the hfs drive to the ext4 drive.

In other words, I need the copier to ignore errors. Also I’d like to log the files that could not be copied to a file, if possible.

What’s the best command to use? I read about and tried rsync, but it have errors as well and I don’t know if it successfully copied the other files.

I would just install veency and use that for all server managing.

@XOIIO I don’t understand. Do you mean installing a GUI and using remote desktop? I’d like to keep the server as lean as possible. Furthermore, GNOME will also abort on errors, won’t it?

@klaas4 I beleive it’s configurable, I’ve used kde more than gnome though. Even if you still want to do termila remote desktop is a good idea, and it gives you a graphical option as well. All you need to do is turn off all the flashy features and it will barely affect resoures.
