The benefit of a Medicare Advantage Plan is to reduce your cost, but you want to make sure that it covers what you want/need. The first trick is to make sure that the plan includes the doctor(s) you want to see. The second is to ensure that the Part D benefit includes all the drugs that you take and doesn’t jam them into more expensive tiers that will increase your costs. Also, you need to make sure that any plan someone recommends is available in your state.
I am aware of several people who are extremely satisfied with the United Healthcare plan through AARP. Remember that available plans change from year to year (what you like this year may not be available next year OR it may have changed so that your doctor/medications are no longer covered on next year’s plans). For this reason it is important to check your plan from year to year to make sure that it still meets your needs.
