Has there ever been a story about you in the newspaper?

“Great Question” (4points)

There was once a story (and front page photo) about me being a participant in our city’s Citizen’s Police Academy. I had no idea they were doing that… what a surprise when I picked up the paper that day!

Only my high school newspaper. I was interviewed about joining the military. The fame is unbearable sometimes.

Yes. A few. I am known in my community as an animal activist and a landmark saver.

I was in the paper as a kid related to youth baseball (which I played for ten years) a couple of times.

For my last FT job, I was regularly quoted in the paper regarding local farming and related issues. Few times a year for four years.

I also had a few stories and photographs of mine published in some local papers in recent years.

I have been in the papers quite a bit. One thing I’ve learned is that you have to hope that, at least, they get the big picture. There was a half-page article done about me in the Baltimore Sun. I had to post the article up near the actors’ call board with circles and arrows and my corrections to what she reported. Literally, every paragraph had a mistake in it.

Constantly, I’m getting tired of it.

Story, no, but I had my picture on the front page of a major Boston daily once, a large photo above the fold.

The photo had been taken the night before on the Boston Common. This was the summer of 1967, and I guess I must have been someone’s idea of a representative hippie, even though I was an insurance company clerk by day and just put on the right clothes and went to hang out with my age group in the evenings. I was barefoot, in a long shift and with long blonde hair, sitting on the grass and reading a comic book by candlelight. The packet of Zig Zags didn’t show in the picture.

@Jeruba Sounds like the perfect hippie picture to me! ;)

@Jeruba: Comic books and ZigZags? You must have been in Harvard Square shortly before that.

I was in the news paper in High School for answering questions about internet safety. All i had to talk about was about Facebook and how many teens have been fooled and got in a very dangerous situation. Later on, in my High School years i was rewarded as rotary student of the month, and soon was in the newspaper with my reward.

I was in this art program for six months when I moved to Québec, as an alternative to just getting a job lol and our big project was a play we put together. It was called Catharsis, and it was basically about how society sucks. I didn’t wanna act in it, but I was forced haha, and it was horrible, not my bag. My initial role was to come up with ideas and work on decors and the drawings for the advertisement posters, which I did, but since we were such a small group, I had to act in it, too. We played it in two locations, and got a story about it in the paper after, with a group picture of all the actors and the two supervisors who ran the whole thing. Some guy even offered to organize a trip for us to Belgium so we could play it in schools. Never happened, but it was mentioned in the paper article as ’‘potential future’’.

I also got letter of the month in a video game magazine once. Not that this counts, but I was so proud. Lol.

@cprevite, no, actually, although I did spend a lot of time in and around Harvard Square (and I still stay there every time I go back), that summer there was a basement-level head shop right on Newbury St., just up from the Garden. I don’t think it stuck around too long, but it was there that night. And the reading matter was by R. Crumb. I still have it.

I was in the paper twice in junior high school, for local art projects I was involved in. (Both times featured the whole group, not just me.) As an adult, I wrote an op-ed piece for our local newspaper. Oh, and a bit of my advice on marriage was in Real Simple magazine, along with my picture.

Yes. My whole family has been featured through the years.

sigh. I was a poster child when I was 6 and was given the key to the city by the mayor.

What the mayor didn’t realize is that I grinned at him and used sign language to tell my mom how funny I thought it was that he was unbelievably fat. Good thing the newspaper reporter didn’t know sign language either.

Way back when I was in a band, there was a review of a gig I played at.
