I rarely have time when I initially read things over in the AM (or whenever I stop by).

I save the Q because I:
– am interested in the subject
– want to give some lurve
– want to read the opinions on a subject
– was thinking of asking the same question (this happens so often…seriously)
– someone has already given the answer I would give (maybe if the thread takes a turn I’ll go in later and support the answer I agree with)
– am saving it to hear the follow up (just had this with a dog Q here yesterday…the Jelly’s dog is A-Ok…Hooray!)

Yep, I’m interested in other people’s thoughts and information that I may want to find out.

As a mod, I also follow a ton of questions for other reasons. Likely spam, things that seem like they could turn into flame wars, and most meta questions.

Sometimes. Depending on the question, I like to make bets with myself about who will answer and in what fashion. Some are fairly predictable.

Occasionally. Sometimes because I hope to answer it later. Sometimes just to follow the discussion.

Yes, especially if it’s a topic I’m interested in, but have no knowledge of. I will follow if it is something I think will benefit me in the future too. Something like: How do I get lipstick stain out of my carpet? I don’t have a stain right now, but I might some day, so I’ll follow for future knowledge.

Not often, but occasionally. Since I shy away from political or religious debates, but I’m interested in what other have to say, I will follow those. I’m a lurker at heart anyway.

Occasionally I do that, and if I do, I most of the time will write that I will follow the question to say that I think the OP has put an interesting one.

Yes. It’s usually a topic I’m interested in but I don’t have the time to give a thorough answer. There are also times when I have a strong opinion on the subject, but I’ve debated it before and I’m just not in the mood to go through that process again. I am still curious to see what others are saying.

@Keep_on_running Not at all, a question i’ve participated in will alert me when any other responses are given, regardless of that action, that is unless I choose to stop following.

Most of the time, when I follow without answering, it’s because can’t confidently formulate an intelligent thought on that topic enough to say anything, but am very curious about others’ answers.

Yes, I have more unanswered questions than answered questions in my list of follows (that was a confusing sentence to type).

I follow without answering because I’m interested in the subject and the discussion that follows. Many times, the things I’d want to say have already been said (sometimes a lot better than how I’d say it). Other times, I don’t feel confident enough as @linguaphile stated. And, as @jonsblond said ..not in the mood to debate something I’ve done a hundred times before ..but it still interests me.

Yes I do. I may not have time to answer then and there but plan to come back to it later. I many not know anything about the content of the question but be interested. I could just being voyeuristic.

Yes, I am interested in many subjects that I know nothing about. Opinion questions are usually very interesting as well.

I don’t do it very often, but I do on occasion when I am interested in the question/responses but don’t really have anything to add.

I may be interested in the topic even though I know I’ll probably have nothing to say about it. This seems to be particularly true of NSFO questions. Times have changed since my day, but my curiosity hasn’t.

Occasionally, if I open it up because it interested me. I think they are automatically followed anyway if I do something like say “great answer,” which I sometimes do.

Yes. You people ask questions I have no clue how to answer, but I want to know what the answer is. So I follow.

I can’t give you any sort of number, I couldn’t quantify it, but I occasionally do. Some questions I just get interested in but for some reason don’t have the energy or focus to compose my own comments for one reason or another, or I don’t know enough about the subject to participate but am interested in the discussion, some question are just fun to follow, when the fur starts flying but I know better than to enter the fray myself, and some Q’s can sometimes end up being rather interesting, focused debates between two or three people and I sometimes follow those and some questions are just train wrecks and I don’t want to look, I really don’t, but I can’t help myself, but I’m certainly not going to throw my hat into the ring. Those I will just watch from the sidelines, thank you.

In addition to some of the more mature reasons above, I admit I will sometimes follow a question when I foresee that hilarious drama is about to erupt.

I often follow questions that I intend to answer but need more time to think about my answers. I follow them so I am able to find them again when I am ready to answer.

There has been the rare occassion when I have followed a question that I feel unable to answer but am interested in what others have to say. However, I usually end up contributing eventually.

Yes, to learn, to follow, or if I’m busy at work or home and don’t have time to read or write at that moment. Often I’m late to a discussion so I just want to read what others said.

I love the answers and usually want to find out about things but not follow the question slavishly.
