No, because the ones you see (generally) are either behind a counter or out delivering mail. Moving mail is thinly veiled production labor. It’s the kind of labor that tends to require being at least marginally fit.
The two that generally deliver mail in our neighborhood are on the overweight side. Please note that our mailboxes are located at the edge of the street, and they deliver the mail without getting out of the vehicle. It’s not that this is an excuse; it just doesn’t help in maintaining a healthy weight.
In the SO’s British hometown, none of the mail carriers I’ve seen are overweight. They cover their routes on foot.
No. I can’t recall one. Our mailmen have to ride little motorbikes. If they were very overweight, their little bikes wouldn’t cope. Plus Australia Post have maximum weight limits for their mail delivers.
@bkcunningham I don’t think Newman counts. It also depends on if the mailman does a lot of walking. There are heavyweight people at the windows too. I don’t think this question was well thought-out.
No, but after reading this question I had to go to the post office yesterday and there was this hugely obese person in front of me, wearing extremely tight gray sweatpants and a tighter pink sweatshirt. I cursed you Sunny2 for making this question pop into my mind. :)
