Hey guys. I’ve decided I’d like to teach myself SEO. I am out of work right now and while on the job hunt I’ve gotten the sense that it is a pretty good skill to have. On top of that, I have 3 websites of my own that can benefit from good SEO work. I am wondering 2 things…

1. Do I need to know coding for SEO? Basic html is fine, I can handle that, I can even handle basic CSS, but beyond that I can’t. Also, what files in the FTP server do you generally have to mess around with? Just the index.html? or do you have to dig deeper than that?

2. Anyone know of some good online tutorials, courses, or programs to be good at SEO? I prefer free, but it is worth it to me to invest a little money into the skill if it’s necessary.
