How can people have thousands of lurve?

“Great Question” (10points)

Most people here on Fluther have a lot of lurve. Like 25000–400000 and I have like 300 or so. It’s really crazy. Do you guys spend a lot of time here or are you just a charm?

It is truly pathetic, @eiram. I have been here since August 2008, and probably answer about twenty questions a day. I hang my head in shame.

Fly's avatar

I would not say that most people have as much lurve as you say. Rather, the regular, very active members that have been here for a long time do, as they logically would. But really, lurve is meaningless, anyway.

Blondesjon's avatar

By earning it one great quip at a time.

tups's avatar

@wundayatta I don’t think it’s pathetic if you like it! Just do your thing. I just don’t like to compare lurve with you, haha.

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

“Like 25000–400000”

I hate to mention this… but no one here has 400,000 lurve. =0)

We have a lot because we’ve been members for a long time and we come here daily.

Speaking of lurve, y’all push me the hell up to 20k already, sheesh!

chyna's avatar

We practically live here. Also hangs head in shame.

@WillWorkForChocolate I’ve long ago maxed out on you.

SpatzieLover's avatar

Almost 4yrs of fluthering to get to 22K for me. @eiram Lurve is an indication of how much time one spends here and really nothing more.

tups's avatar

@WillWorkForChocolate Lol, I added at zero too much.

Kayak8's avatar

@WillWorkForChocolate I gave you a GA but, of course, no lurve to follow having also reached that state of having maxed my ability to show my lurve, but do not think for one minute that I have quit lurving you!

Cruiser's avatar

Letting the collective know you don’t have enough lurve like you did just netted you 15 from me!

tups's avatar

Thank you @Cruiser ! May you live forever in peace and have a joyful life.

syz's avatar

Bribery. Lots of bribery.

I had a stalker for a while I think. I seemed to get lurve for every answer no matter how stupid.

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

@Kayak8 OMG, your face! I’ve missed that face!

XOIIO's avatar

I’ve been here since ‘09 I think, pretty small aount compared to some that have been here less.

Cruiser's avatar

5 more @eiram

tups's avatar

@Cruiser May your heart always be joyful, may your song always be sung!

marinelife's avatar

Yours will grow very fast because you are new. Each user can only give you 100 lurve points. Then when they GA you, it doesn’t count.

Cruiser's avatar

At this rate @eiram I will max you out before bed time! :-)

lebber's avatar

I have been here for three years or so, and giving insightful, interesting, clever, and witty answers led me to the astounding amount of…............, 42.
Which, coincidentally, is the answer to everything.

tups's avatar

@lebber I just gave you 5, which means you are no longer the answer to everything. Sorry!

tups's avatar

@Cruiser May all your dreams come true and may you have the best food today

rebbel's avatar

@eiram Don’t believe a word of what that guy @lebber is saying.

tups's avatar

@rebbel Is that guy your twin?

augustlan's avatar

I bite people if they don’t lurve me. ~

Cruiser's avatar

Yes @augustlan does and HARD!

tups's avatar

I now have reached 400 lurve! I will grant you all a piece of cake.

Bellatrix's avatar

I’m a witch…draw your own conclusions.

I did lurve you up though @eiram. Welcome to Fluther.

tups's avatar

@Bellatrix I joined in February. Am I still new?

rebbel's avatar

@eiram Which guy?

tups's avatar

@rebbel The your-name-spelled-backwards-guy.

chyna's avatar

^kind of like your name spelled backward is marie?

Bellatrix's avatar

Yeah.. new enough :-)

tups's avatar

@chyna Oh, it is? Never noticed. What a pretty name!

SuperMouse's avatar

Say it once, say it loud I live on Fluther and I am proud!

@chyna don’t hang your head in shame over the time you spend in the Fluthershpere! Take pride in being a jelly, hold your head high and say to the world “My name is Chyna and I’m a lurveaholic.

YARNLADY's avatar

I have been on here for years, and I answer many questions every single day. I am very proud of my answers and I am very lucky to have the time to do it.

filmfann's avatar

I slept my way to the middle.

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

I’m Adi. I’m a fluther addict. I haven’t been clean since 2010.

filmfann's avatar

Hi Adi!

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

Hi filmfann.

wundayatta's avatar

I wonder if it’s possible to get enough lurve that someone would want to write a book about me.

I wonder if I could get enough lurve to pay everyone’s taxes for them.

I wonder if I could get enough lurve that everyone would love me.

Entirely independently of the second item, of course ;-0

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

@eiram Here’s 3 more. Just don’t worry about the lurve. Enjoy the community, the lurve follows.

King_Pariah's avatar

We sacrifice puppies and kittens and baby koalas to the gods of lurve.

wundayatta's avatar

@King_Pariah [Evil laugh] They are still not onto the benefits of sacrificing baby seals! Ahahahahahahahaha!

Berserker's avatar

All that is required is a huge amount of time spent here, stretched out over centuries, like Count Wundayatta. Also, welcome to Fluther. :)

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

Yes, welcome to Fluther. And may the odds be ever in your favor!

XOIIO's avatar

@WillWorkForChocolate LOL that line is popping up everywhere now.

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

I say it in Effie’s voice when I’m typing it, too! :D

XOIIO's avatar

@WillWorkForChocolate Yeah, I’m gonna have to get the book series since the movie was so good.

jrpowell's avatar

I went with fart jokes and a fuckload of profanity.

lillycoyote's avatar

Yes, we have no lives; we ask, we answer, we ask, we answer, for hours, day after day after day. I hang my head in shame beside @wundayatta, though I have less than half the shame he does.

ucme's avatar

Cheating is rife & to be frowned upon ;¬}

Coloma's avatar

Heh..well….yes, it takes YEARS to climb this hill. Over 2 for me now.
I’m thinking I should just evaporate at the 30k mark, I don’t know if I can handle the shame @wundayatta has at over 50k. lololololol

wundayatta's avatar

Ah @Coloma, my burthen is light.

mangeons's avatar

It takes a good amount of time and many good answers to accumulate so much lurve. It took me more than three years just to reach 10k! It largely depends on how active you are and how much you contribute.

wundayatta's avatar

But it does not not not have anything to do with the quality of your answers. Oh no. Only the depth of your obsession.

Coloma's avatar

@wundayatta For us uber verbose types it’s easy to rack up the points. Some of us can climb to great heights with little oxygen.
I know I don’t need to breathe as often as some when conversing. lolol

Been here almost 3 years now. Surprised I don’t have like 450398382347983 lurve.

blueiiznh's avatar

It’s really all about the math.

Lurve = ((D * QA)/ADL) * CIU/SF * BF * SOF

D = Days as a Member
QA = Questions answered
ADL = Average Daily number of users logged on
CIU = Characters in Username
SF = Sex Factor (1 if female, 0 if male)
BF = Boredom Factor (2 if logged on for less than 30 minutes, 452 if logged on for more than 12 hours a day)
SOF = Significant Other Factor

Lightlyseared's avatar

@blueiiznh I think you should include questions asked as well. Somewhere.

Blondesjon's avatar

@blueiiznh . . . By your math, a male will never have any lurve.

blueiiznh's avatar

@Lightlyseared you are so correct. I will work out the ne formulary on this
@Blondesjon glad you are paying attention

wundayatta's avatar

@blueiiznh you need a way of discounting for time here. I suggest taking the square root of the number of days since registration. Even better would be to look at number of days with at least one login. In any case, the point is, the longer you are here, the harder it is to get lurve because more people have maxed out on you. Over time, the male and female difference will even out because eventually, people will give even the men lurve. So nice try. Funny, indeed.

What would e really interesting is to find out the average time for a user to max out on you. Time the user is actually actively on fluther, or if that can’t be found, then the amount of time in terms of days logged in, and if that isn’t possible, then the days since first logon.

I was at a conference today about getting data off the internet.

erichw1504's avatar

@blueiiznh Don’t forget number of nekked pancake parties attended: NPP.

blueiiznh's avatar

@wundayatta you are so correct on adding a factor for that. (i do recall your teachings on that factor when I was a young jelly) perhaps a factor that considers the days online, QA, GQ, scaled by what decadeof lurve you are in along with how many followers. This could also be weighted by the number of users on the system t the same time you are when you answer questions. Let’s call it the ‘wundy fator”
@erichw1504 NPPA and NPPI (Nekked pancake parties attended and invites) just may be the dominant factor here
