Do you buy into "things come in threes"?

Oh Lord what next?

1st My daughter was diagnosed with a severe sinus infection that is effecting her asthma.

2nd We were rear ended while traveling on the interstate and no repair shops are open so I’ve got to find a way to get the back hatch open to get my husband’s wheel chair out.

3rd We had to put our sweet dog down this morning. He was so sick. He was my husbands service dog and the family companion dog. I’ve been crying off and on all day.

There’s my three, all in less than 48 hours. I believe in the saying that bad (or good) things come in threes, what about you?

I’m not sure about the number three specifically, but I think “When it rains, it pours” is pretty accurate a lot of the time.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your dog, and your car accident, and I hope your daughter gets better soon!

Here’s a jelly hug for you ((((@dubsrayboo))))

It’s understandable how you feel right now. All three of these incidents evoke emotional feelings. Other people have, like you, questioned whether there is any truth to the “things come in threes” superstition. What many have found is that it is easy to look for affirmation in an old wives’ tale while ignoring the bigger picture.

It may feel overwhelming right now. It would for me. What I hope that you discover is to focus on solving the problem of your daughter’s sinus infection quickly, finding help to resolve the wheelchair and car accident challenge, and that no matter how much you miss your beloved dog, the right decision was made. There is something special about people who are empathetic, yet know when to take the helm and get results.

No, but trouble does seem to pile up on you sometimes. Some days, some weeks, some years are harder than others. There are some days, some times, where nothing seems to go right and everything seems to go wrong, and other times when it is pretty much smooth sailing. Just the luck of the draw, I think.

no, nah, nope.

I don’t believe it’s anything but a superstition, but when it happens to you, it’s tempting to believe it. On the serious side, you’d have to remember the times something negative happened and that was it; no number 2 or 3. I worked at a job where, if someone sneezed three times other workers would say, “Three sneezes in a row! You get to go home.” We’d all laugh. But if you want to think it, your 3 things are over. You’re safe for a while.
I wish you the strength to cope and the spirit to move on.

Sometimes yes, I’ve experienced a few.
I once read something that said life is cyclic with periods of stability followed by periods of transition.
For me, so far, I have had about 20 years of stability, 6 years of transition, 7 years of stabililty and now, potential transition coming again this next few months.
Let’s see, that’s 33 years of my life so far.

Lord, I hope the next transitional phase is super short. lol

The wife’s orgasms are testament to this theory.

Well my daughter has the meds and therapy she needs.

I was able to get my hubby’s wheelchair out of the car and the car is now in getting fixed.

And I still REALLY miss our dog. We were going out of town yesterday for a few hours and out of habit I said “We better check on Buddy before we go.” Only to remember there was no Buddy to check on. Sad.

And it is still tempting to believe in this old saying but I like what @Coloma said about life being cyclic. Here’s hoping for stability.

When looking at quarks and leptons, yes.

@dubsrayboo : That sounds like a lot of good news.

And I know that ache of still expecting your animal friend to be there… I couldn’t even sleep in my bedroom for weeks after my beloved cat died because she slept in my bed every night :’-(

@mattbrowne : Mind explaining?

Three quarks make up a proton and a neutron. The two groups of three leptons each are the electron, muon and tau, as well as the neutrino, muon neutrino, and tau neutrino.
