Is it Fibromyalgia or simply arthritis? Or..?

I was reading that a woman in her fifties had been a hairdresser for decades. She has a lot of pain in her arms and was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. Could it be arthritis from holding her arms up all day most days for years? People get carpal tunnel syndrome from using their wrists and forearms on computers a lot and I think CT is arthritis.

CT is not arthritis, it is a pinched nerve. The same for cubital tunnel. The woman has been diagnosed; do you want to discuss why her doctor is wrong? Fibromyalgia is not hard to distinguish from arthritis. Arthritis is join pain. Fibromyalgia is perceived pain due to overly sensitive nerves. They pretty much rule everything else out before diagnosing Fibro.

I do not think her doctor was wrong. Sorry if I gave that impression.

How could any of us possibly know what was wrong with her? If her doctor diagnosed her with fibromyalgia and there is no evidence that it was a misdiagnosis, why should you have any reason to question it? I don’t understand what you’re even asking if you don’t think that the doctor was wrong.

Arthritis pain is in joints, fibro pain is also in the connective tissues between joints. The doc certainly would have ruled out arthritis before diagnosing fibro.
