I suggest that you use hot water, a brillo pad and elbow grease. The instructions for most self-cleaning ovens tell you to remove the stainless steel racks before cleaning because they will discolor. Similar for the burners, I would guess.

You could get the model number and call the manufacturer’s 800 number, if you were feeling creative. Or, as a last resort, read the manual.

Oven cleaner spray.

^^> That is loaded with lye and has to be treated with great care, in order not to inhale the spray particles. I consider it dangerous, myself, and would rather scrub with a stainless steel pad.

Here’s a method I came across on Pinterest. Seems feasible, and super easy.

I suggest spraying 409 or fantastik and letting it sit for 2–3 minutes, then wipe off. I would also try something like soft scrub.

@gailcalled I think steel wool would scratch my stove. Safer bet would be those sponges that have some scratch on them that are safe for teflon coated pans I think?

@JLeslie: i very carefully mentioned brillo pads and not steel wool. Brillo pads are impregnated with soap and thus can be used on stainless steel. I have used them on my burners and stainless pots and pads for decades.

@gailcalled Even Brillo would make me nervous, I use the terms interchangeably, sorry for not being clearer. But, if you have been successful using them that is good to know for future.

@Sunny2 Did you get them clean? I would love to know a great way to clean them because mine are grimey!!

@Ponderer983 Haven’t done it yet, but plan to try the spray-on oven cleaner and leaving them over night in a plastic bag. I’ll let you know the results. I’ll leave them in the kitchen sink with the window open.
