Bloggers & Writers: What's your typical time frame?

“Great Question” (1points)

A question for those of you who frequently publish blog articles or similar pieces online. (I’m talking about quality, in-depth articles, not just a journal entry or a paragraph about your pet or your favorite restaurant on your personal blog. )

The question is: How long does it take you to complete a typical article, from conceiving the topic to clicking “Publish” (assuming at least one image and a hyperlink or two get thrown into the article along the way)?

I know some articles are very short, especially for news, and some are very much longer than normal. I’m not talking about those few and far between articles – Just your standard run-of-the-mill good solid blog article.

I hope someone answers you, @gambitking. There are many people on Fluther who maintain nice blogs.

@bkcunningham , I was thinking the same thing…

Come on writers, where are you? I can think of a few blogs from our Flutheren just off the top of my head.

I have added to my “follow question” since I would like to do this too, and find out more!

I don’t blog. To date, I have only responded to questions on Askville and Fluther. It takes me about a half hour to write a paragraph. No one would want to (or likely could) read my stream of thought. Besides spelling errors (perhaps because I learned to speak in Chicago, I seem unable to use the correct vowels) and faulty syntax, I find that the order of my thoughts is almost random.

Well I don’t normally answer my own questions on here, but I figure in this case it might be a bit helpful, and no one else is answering, even though I thought for sure we’d get more bites than this!

Anyway, I’ve noticed lately that a typical blog article takes me about 3–4 hours (including research, adding links/images and even taking short breaks throughout the process). The average word count falls around 600 or so.

Thanks for answering your own question. I am in the process of starting a blog and wondered the same question myself.
