Here in the DC area, a big-ass storm came through a few days ago and knocked out all the power. Apparently that messed up a lot of other stuff, because fireworks were canceled all over the area.

I spent most of the day working, then went to a park and grilled with some friends.

Individuals setting off fireworks is illegal in some states period. Whether it rained that morning or not.

Are you in a rural area where the municipality or a nearby one doesn’t set of fireworks for the city? Or, has the city cancelled theirs also?

Personally, I think they should be illegal to be set off by individuals, they are very dangerous.

I spent the day with neighbors and friends at their pool and eating too much. It was a great day. I didn’t go to see any fireworks, but I do love them. I used to go all the time, but I usually don’t here where I live now.

We grilled a couple steaks. We can walk out to the street and watch everyone else’s paychecks go up in smoke. It was great. Every 5 minutes there was the Fire dept on the move. I hope they force people to pay for those calls.

We went to St. Charles to see their parade (sadly, our own is poisoned with politicking), had lunch, and Dad and I tried to work in a conversation about Asimov’s Robot series over our respective fries.
It wasn’t the same without fireworks, though. This is the fourth 4th I’ve had without ‘em, but the first three times I wasn’t Stateside anyway, but it’s still weird.

Sparklers! Oh wait, yeah, that does count as fireworks…ngerrk.

I wish fireworks (for individuals) were banned in the UK too. We don’t get them in July, but in the month running up to November 5th this town sounds like an Afghanistan war-zone.

Our public fireworks display was cancelled due to either the big storm on Friday that @Haleth mentioned, or the big storm that was rolling in this evening. We didn’t do anything special, just hung out at home. Honestly, that’s what we do even when there are fireworks. :p

I watched Salmon Fishing in the Yemen on 1Channel.ch as recommended recently (maybe yesterday, in fact) in Fluther.

I don’t so much ‘celebrate’ the 4th of July nowadays as I consider it “Memorial Day for the Constitution”.

We watched other people light fireworks. :-(

It was a war zone at my house. We went up on the roof and there were “bombs bursting in air” on every side. Then the city fireworks went off downtown. Even though we are a few miles away, we still have a great view. And we don’t have to brave the crowds, although the heat was worse than I’ve ever felt it.

Not a lot. It was too hot to go out here.

We went out on our pontoon boat after a neighborhood parade with decorated golf carts and other OTR vehicles then some residents cooked hotdogs . Watermelon for dessert. Nice day.

I just watched movies and ordered pizza.
Fireworks are illegal here and there was a good storm going on, I’d rather watch lightning than fireworks anyway. Once one of our neighbors set off fireworks and set our backyard on fire so..yea..not the best place for them anyway.

I did not change my routine very much. I got some yard work done in the evening because my husband was home to help me. My arms and neck hurt today from raking.

My adult grandson bought some fireworks at sell-out prices Wednesday afternoon from a stand outside his work. He worked most of the day, and set off a few safe and sane fireworks in the street in front of our house around 9 pm.

No celebration.
