The moon is not a planet.

Easily seen are Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. With dark skies and some hints on location, you can spot Mercury.

Hi @black_fox, we just recently had this discussion. It was very interesting. Good question.

Oh, and welcome to Fluther, @black_fox. Was the other discussion helpful? You can add to it if you’d like. Do you have any more questions?

Yep. The ones the ancients worshiped as Gods, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn. It’s sure fortunate they didn’t notice Uranus was out there. It’s actually dimly visible to the naked eye. Imagine the worship services at the temple of Uranus!

And yes, Welcome to Fluther.
