What do you think of this situation?

So while going for a stroll around the park, I bump into an acquaintance, let’s call him Brad. So me, a 20-ish year old heterosexual female, bump into a very attractive acquaintance of mine named Brad.

Brad tells me that he’s moving away in 4 days. We chat it up and catch up a bit and then since it’s a Saturday, I was wondering maybe if he wanted to hang out, since it’s his last weekend there. So, I ask “what are you doing tonight?” and Brad tells me of his plans of having a get together at a restaurant/ bar, then asks me in return “what are you up to?” and without thinking, I reply with “nothing =)”.

So Brad kindly invites me to the get together at the restaurant that night, and I gladly accept.

Later on, I receive a text from Brad explaining that the plans have been cancelled due to the weather (was planning on sitting in the patio) and that he would text if anything more was planned.

But I text him saying that regardless, we should hang out anyways! After a while, Brad texts and says that they all did end up going with the original plan, just not on the patio, and to “come!”.

So, in this situation, what do you think he was thinking? Was he trying to get rid of me? It somewhat felt like I invited myself since I said I had no plans… I don’t exactly know his group of friends, and there was awkwardness. Although the night overall did end up going pretty smoothly.

I hope you had a good time. I wouldn’t waste time rehashing. It’s over and done.

Maybe he seemed distant in his messaging because he probably knew you would feel awkward…but inspite of it, he still wanted your participation.. So all is good :)

Thanks, that is true I guess. :P Certainly makes me feel better to think that way.

Brad was playing you.

He may have felt like he needed to invite you, and later tried to undo it in a nice but sneaky way. It was probably meant to be a ‘close friends saying goodbye’ kind of gathering, but he was nice and polite enough to invite you anyway. This kind of thing happens sometimes, so don’t beat yourself up about it too much. We live and learn. :)

@augustlan , yeah, I think that’s what happened. haha, but I got a text saying that I made his night. So, seems to have turned out well any who!
