If you were to make an adventuring party of real people in today's world who would they be and what skills are required to make such a choice? ( fictional details inside.)

“Great Question” (3points)

In this fictional scenario, the world is being destroyed by Thantos in a war from December 21, 2012 and July 28 2014. The world decides that the only chance for survival is to send 9 real people back in time to August 25, 1999… they can’t be placed anywhere in the world, but only in places that they lived by in the past. The time machine works properly but the machine has a flaw that instead of sending people back It just sends mental information back to younger versions of people earlier in life… Like if a person was a president of a country then he goes back and restarts his career as a young man again with a few extra memories of the future.

You could choose a spiritual leader, a political world leader, a powerful business man, a extremely smart person, the worlds greatest thief, a powerful military leader, an Olympic athlete, a fashion model, a story teller, the worlds greatest doctor, the worlds greatest lawyer, the best trades person in the world from any field, a master craftsman, literally anyone in the real world who was alive between 1999 and 2012 (even Fred Rogers ), who would you choose to a battle a fictional character like for example Thanatos from the Marvel universe.

They are given permission to change the past in any way that they see fit even to the point of preventing a death of someone who could be in the group in a later date. You have infinite second chances provided that the time machine still functions and the opportunities are endless for change.

Basically you are given 12 years to prepare yourself and your world to find the other 8 people in your group to fight an invasion and since the possibility that you could put someone back in time to a point where they are extremely young and lacking in credibility or authority you have to consider the options. You are welcome to send yourself If you like… you are given the authority to pick which citizens of Earth go back. How would decide and who would you pick and why you would pick them?

P.S. You don’t get to bring anything back other than a few randomly placed mental images and scattered info from your future and a strong determination to help save the planet. The people you send are free to do as they wish and are free not to help you when sent back… their is a possibility that some might just spend the last 12 years on a long vacation and lead the world to doom? From any perspective you choose who do you send?

I would send Oprah Winfrey, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, The Dalai Lama (Tenzin Gyatso), Jon Stewart from The Daily Show, Stan Lee, Myself, Fred Rogers, Navy SEAL Cade Courtley and Steve Jobs.

According to the Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny, Fred Rogers is all it would take. The rest would just be along for the ride.

The thing is, I don’t have to select people. I merely have to send one person back. Instantly, that sets up a feedback loop. If that one person changes things, then I know it instantly (indeed, I have always known it) as the world is now different from the one where I first sent someone back. Now I send someone different back, this time, and instantly I know whether this person has changed things. This process loops infinitely quickly until stability is achieved.

To me, it appears that only one person has been sent back. In addition, there is no longer any threat (as the threat was prevented by the people that were sent back), so I don’t even know why that person was sent back. Indeed, Thanatos [sic] becomes impossible and the time machine becomes impossible, and there is no story.

The guy is named “Thanos”. You linked it right, try to write it right.

Well, of course, i would pick Batman. We all know, Batman can never lose. He killed a god, prevented the universe from coming undone because of time travel a couple of times, and has more than enough brain power not to fuck it up.

If necessary, i would throw in Booster Gold, just because time preservation is his day job.

Some of you won’t know who I’m talking about but I nominate Geoffrey Boycott who will bore them to death on the virtues of “uncovered pitches”
