This usually happens by clicking the “thank user” link under a response on your own threads, if I remember correctly.

Also, you can style it that way, just using the “link”: (your response) code and the—to make the text small.

Right, the same codes will work in the PM, is what I meant. I just wasn’t sure how to type it since it will format instead of showing you the code for the format.

Is there a way to use this device on someone else’s thread? If so, I haven’t discovered it.

I’m pretty sure it can only be done on your own threads, which is why I added the bit with the code for typing it that way yourself. Typically, if I want to respond privately to an individual answer, I will permalink and then just style that link in the PM.
