How do I handle the "textile" shorthand in PM?

I get tidy private messages that say “regarding <your answer>” where the <your answer> is in red and when clicked on, brings on the entire original answer. I need a short reminder, please.

This usually happens by clicking the “thank user” link under a response on your own threads, if I remember correctly.

@DigitalBlue: Mystery solved. Thank you

I just remembered to thank myself again for my evening laugh.

Also, you can style it that way, just using the “link”: (your response) code and the—to make the text small.

(I hope this made some sense.)

I know how to do all the fancy formatting on the Q and A sites. It was the issue of the PM that had me flummoxed,—-but no more, thanks to you.—

Right, the same codes will work in the PM, is what I meant. I just wasn’t sure how to type it since it will format instead of showing you the code for the format.

I know. I wrote —-but no more, thank you——thinking I was making the text smaller. Apparently I used too many – - – lined up.

Is there a way to use this device on someone else’s thread? If so, I haven’t discovered it.

I’m pretty sure it can only be done on your own threads, which is why I added the bit with the code for typing it that way yourself. Typically, if I want to respond privately to an individual answer, I will permalink and then just style that link in the PM.
