What type of industrial hole punch does a paper mill use?

Just curious as to how many sheets are processed at once. My guess is that it is only the amount to be packed, and immediately before final packaging. They probably also recover the “holes” for recycling.

I’ve never worked at that end of a paper mill, so I can’t say with assurance, but I believe that generally those holes are “drilled”, not punched.

Why would drilled be best?

They drill because a punch would be limited to a few pieces of paper. Drills can be use make holes several inches thick.

they are drilled with a hollow drill to collect the waist. the circles are ejected through the top of the drill so it can go as deep as the drill is long.
