I was just about to say what @augustlan said. You get the purity ring for yourself and it’s to show your intentions of staying a virgin until you marry. The boyfriend usually buys the “promise” ring as an intention of getting married in the future.

Giving you the promise ring is a way of him controlling you. Is he going to wear one as well? Or is he still going to date other girls but you (because you have this promise ring) are restricted from dating other guys.

I would ask him directly what this means – because there’s a good chance he has a different idea than you do.
