2008, when I voted for Obama.

If I was 5 months older, my answer would be 1992.

lillycoyote's avatar

It would have been 2008. Barack Obama is younger than me.

I shall disregard this question, instead, here’s a pic of a pretty birdie.

Now there is a milestone I had not considered before. This has not happened to me yet.

2008. Obama

chyna's avatar

In 2008 when I voted for Obama. I hadn’t thought about this before. So probably, from now on, all the candidates will be younger than me. It makes me sad.

Buttonstc's avatar

That would be Obama for me.

anartist's avatar

Just like everyone else here, Obama in 2008.

Obama. I have him by a couple of months.
It wasn’t near as difficult as the first time I had a doctor younger than me. Now every doctor I see except my dentist is a kid.

jonsblond's avatar

@chyna There’s still a chance Hillary could run in 2016. Don’t be sad. :)

I haven’t done this yet, but I think it’s an interesting question. Sorry I’m not disregarding this Q @Jeruba. I’ll be 42 in January and when I learned that Ryan is 42 I realized I would be facing this milestone in my life sooner than I realized. It reminded me of the time when I went back to college when I was 26 and I had an instructor who was younger than me. It was a very odd feeling.

^I hope she does.

1992 with Bill Clinton and evermore.

Obama is younger than my eldest brother, and I did contemplate the milestone of having someone “my age” running the nation. When I vote for someone my son’s age’ then ill really feel old!

I know you said to disregard the question if it hasn’t happened yet, but I’m a rebel
;-P

Al Gore is a year younger than me.

zenvelo's avatar

Obama is six years younger than me. It wasn’t a consideration in any way. But on his birthday, my girlfriend, who was also born in 1961, said, “Oh my gawd, I’m older than the fricking president!!” (We both voted for him and will again.)

Dutchess_III's avatar

Obama. Although he is not TOO young, ya know!

Sunny2's avatar

Thank you for providing the necessary dates to make it possible to answer. Bill Clinton was the first i was older than. God, that makes me feel ancient. I guess I am.

lillycoyote's avatar

@Judi I was actually going to mention that: That voting for someone younger than me wasn’t a big deal, not nearly as weird as the first time I saw a doctor who was younger than me.

Linda_Owl's avatar

In 2008, when I voted for Obama.

Now, folks, please note that I didn’t ask whom you voted for, but only in which election. For instance, if you said 1992, you might have been much older than Clinton, but you voted for Bush. No telltale there.

For me the answer is 2000. Not that it did any good.

That was kind of a milestone, like the first experience of going to a doctor who’s noticeably younger than you. Seeing cops who are a lot younger happens much sooner in life. How about having college instructors who are younger than you? That one’s pretty weird. Those experiences for me all involved a jarring mental shift involving a redefinition of authority figures. Just curious who else has had this one.

AmWiser's avatar

It would be the election on 2008.

Side note: President Obama and my brother were born on the same date and the same year. I usually tease him about how I got the wrong brother.:->
Great Question.

wundayatta's avatar

2008. But it’s obvious who I voted for in that election, @Jeruba. So your admonition is kind of pointless.

augustlan's avatar

Perhaps one day I’ll get to vote for @Fly for president. Voting for my own daughter would be surreal!

Brian1946's avatar

My answer would be 2000 if I hadn’t voted for Ralph Nader that year.

Strauss's avatar

2008. If I was 7 months older it would have been 2000.

YARNLADY's avatar

I voted in every one of the elections on the list, but the first year I voted for a president younger than me was 1992.

lillycoyote's avatar

I know that you didn’t ask us who we voted for @Jeruba I chose to tell you. :-)
