I have two. Election and Wag the Dog.
Election has so many angles and examples of political posturing in High School that I get something new from it every time. In High School I would have loved to explore the “f**k and have a hot tub” when I was running for class president.-No such luck for Mr. Panda.
And I really loved Wag the Dog, I mean you’ve got Hoffman and De Niro trying to take focus away from an affair by making a fake war (in a Slick Willie politico expert kinda way) and the other Willie (Nelson) to write the war ballad.
Just for fun… I enjoyed “Head of State,” where Chris Rock runs for president and his speeches are not only political, they’re funny. His campaign slogan: “That Ain’t Right!”
I just watched “Recount”... it made me so sad. I kept feeling like they could make it, just one last hurdle! .. and then I remembered how it all actually turned out. and I started getting mad like it was 2000 all over again. Really well done though.
How could I forget. Network. That movie was made in the 70’s but couldn’t be any more relevant for what is going on today. I’m mad as hell and I’m not gonna take it anymore!!!
Several people have mentioned All The President’s Men. I must I really like the pace of the story.
Another political movie that I like is Syriana. I like how it’s the sort of movie that you’re not suppose to get the first time through. Also Syriana doesn’t pretend to be able to sum the entirety of issue of oil.
