Yep: “Hallucinations may occur in any sensory modality—visual, auditory, olfactory, gustatory, tactile, proprioceptive, equilibrioceptive, nociceptive, and thermoceptive.”
Yup,ive definitely hallucinated pain before. Its weird because you tell yourself its not real, and its just the drug, yet you feel it as if it really happened.Though after a little bit it goes away and your mind is consumed by a million other feelings. Interesting experience to say the least :P
Yeah, I was very surprised to see that. I’ve certainly never experienced pain in a dream. And isn’t that the whole idea behind “pinch myself to see if I’m dreaming”?. Have any of you felt pain in a dream?
So a quick google reveals that though pain rarely occurs in the dreams of healthy subjects, it’s not unheard of. Typically, pain in dreams is an incorporation into the dream of real physical pain in the sleeper’s body, though it can be a remembered pain as well.
Sometimes, if i have been doing heavy physical exercise in my dream (such as running away from a deranged murderer) then I wake up with tired/hurting legs. I don’t know if that’s the same as feeling pain IN my dream though.
I used to have dreams where the palms of my hands were being slashed, as with razor blades. And I had horrible dreams where my mouth was full of ground glass that I kept trying to spit out as it cut my mouth both inside and out. They were frequent for a long time, and yes, they were painful. It’s been many years, though.
