There are like a lot of horrible ways to die man. I think one of the nastiest would be to drown in a septic tank. It’s dark, scary, and just nasty swallowing all that sewage. There are a lot worse things than drowning in sewage though.

Wow I wonder if insurance covers that. Or if they have to report him missing…

Yes, drowning in a septic tank or being burned at the stake would be most horrific. I don’t think either are all that common=not in Texas I hope.

^^^^^ I think there might not have been much pain but taking your first big breath and getting a mouthful of mud with no air to breathe in is just too much. You’d smother or drown in mud.

I heard the man’s brother heard him screaming? It doesn’t sound like he went that quickly. I can’t imagine how terrifying that would be.

I thought he screamed once as he collapsed into the earth. Dreadful . And nobody to sue or, believe me, someone would have to pay dearly for this one.

I read about that this morning. I don’t think it would be the WORST way to die, but certainly the most unexpected. And his brother couldn’t save him. I read that the brother said he could hear him calling his name to help, but he couldn’t get to him. That alone is really tragic.

A local radio program was pondering this after a man fell into an empty vat at work, and then the hopper opened and dumped tons of sugar on him and he suffocated.

Horrible way for the man to die and for his brother to watch. Proof, as if we didn’t need more, how little true control we have over our lives.

Six people in an SUV died on the highway today when hit from behind by a tractor trailer in KY. It burst into flames, and they burnt to death. What would be worse than that?

@blueknight73 Yeah, I don’t want to die in a fire if I’m still conscious. I’ve been burned before and it isn’t pleasant.

I’ve seen people die worse than that. Just sayin…

I think the worst is having a gigantic anti tank mine go off underneath a soft vehicle and having limbs ripped off and guts hanging out. That would be a horrid last few minutes. Then a medic telling me I’m gonna be ok.

How about being tied to a stake then dissolved from the feet up by hydrofluoric acid rising at 1 mm per hour? As terrifying as it must have been for the poor guy, it was all over in the time his last breath before being buried lasted.

@josie Back when I was 20 I had an appendectomy. My roommate was dying of cancer, and was in horrible pain and nausea constantly before he finally gave up the ghost. You’re right. I’ve seen much worse.

It sounds like he died in his sleep, and it was over quickly. Compared to all the possible crazy ways to die, that’s not too bad. It is pretty ironic and unfortunate, but not really a bad way to go.

I think I would prefer a house with a wood floor instead of a slab floor in that part of the country. At least if the earth sinks from under the house there will be more time to unass the place but not much more.

Being a quadrapalegic and unable to speak is the worst way that I can think of to suffer and die.

Another great movie that’s also depits “leocked-in syndrome” is The diving Bell and the Butterfly But unlike Johnny Got His Gun the “The diving Bell and the Butterfly” is a true story of a French man name Jean-Dominique Bauby Such suffering and torture blows my mind.

I don’t think the guy died immediately, as he was heard yelling for help by others who were there while he was already down in the hole. It’s nothing to joke about regardless of how others may have died.
