@ragingloli, thought it said rangoli and that she was Russian or some other Slovic nation. Then I realized that she was from another planet and probably genderless.

I still have trouble remembering who’s a guy and who’s a girl, but it doesn’t matter in the exchange of information usually. Augustlan, ThornInMud, and a few others that don’t have gender specific profile pics I usually say him/ her or something if necessary.

@KNOWITALL I find it a lot of fun not knowing and challenging my assumptions.

@Judi I think my latest guess was that ragingloli is actually a guy, although I’m not sure.

In the past, I though dog was a guy for a long time and I initially thought glacial was a guy.

@janbb Ah, glacial was the other one, a woman huh? When I first started here, I thought about using a male persona or genderless pic, because people are sometimes more respectful to men online I’ve noticed, elsewhere. I wonder if some of these people have a reason?

I thought Pandora was a guy for a long time…along with Ragingloli. I thought Willworkforchicolate was a woman until recently. I just found out Dog was not a male! Oh and bookish1, I always thought he was female until a month ago. There are many who I’m unsure of. It isn’t all that important to me though. The reasoning for the assumption is almost always their tone in their posts.

I’ve always thought @bkcunningham was a guy, but I read something recently that suggested otherwise. So, I’m still not sure there.

I also thought @WillWorkForChocolate and @bookish1 were females until recently.

I’ve had jellies call me “he,” which I find odd because I thought my username was pretty girly-sounding/looking, but I guess not.

There are plenty whose genders I’m not sure of, though.

I’m often surprised to find some one I thought was male or female was the opposite. Why it should matter, I don’t know. I tend to have an impression of the jelly I’m talking to, even though I have nothing to go on. Makes no sense. I’ll have to think about that.

Forever and ever I thought Raginloli was a a girl then I started noticing people referring to them as a dude and I realized I had no idea why I though Ragingloli was a girl…but I didn’t know that the other person had any reason to think Ragingloli was a dude so I just said to hell with it all cause it doesn’t matter anyway.

I’m kind of glad a certain departed jelly isn’t here to read this question… or he would probably have taken the opportunity to point out yet again how confusing my gender is to him.

No jellies have played mindgames with me regarding gender. The Internet is the one place where I feel free from gender assignation and that makes me quite happy. It would be silly of me, then, to pay too much attention to the gender assignation of the people that I interact with.

I have had jellies assign pronouns to me in posts before and I sometimes wonder what it is that leads them to their selections. I guess most people feel comfortable if they have a point of reference.

If ragingloli is not a girl then it wishes it was, be the nearest to a girl it’d ever get.

@muppetish What I find interesting about the issue is that I tend to do it on an unconscious level and then when I find things are different from what I imagined, it challenges my notions of gender. I guess a more evolved state is not to make those assumptions at all.

Reminds me of having some pre-cancer cells removed making it difficult to carry a child until I was about 28 yrs old, and people going on and on about why I didn’t have kids.

@glacial, @fundevogel, Dog, and bkcunningham were all male in my mind, til I found out otherwise somewhere along the way. I used to be confused by ragingloli, but now I’m 99% sure he is a male alien. I get mistaken for a male fairly often, but it used to happen all the time when I first joined and had a sterner looking “A” for my avatar.

Well, after this thread, I have no idea if @ragingloli is male or female. I know that there have been a few jellies that threw me for a loop, but I can’t remember now who they are/were.

A lot of people think that I’m a guy since I’ve been using this account.

I think I mentioned this before, and Dog is gone now, I guess, and newer people might not know of Dog, but when she became a mod and they did a profile of her… wow! I had always thought the Dog was, like a guy, in his late 20’s and it turned out that Dog was a mother of four, in her late 30’s. That was a big surprise to me, really, it was. I know there have been other mix ups but off the top of my head that’s what I’ve got. I will have to think about it.

And, for the longest time, I thought @ragingloli was a 13 year old boy or something like that. I’m still not sure what @ragingloli is all about. @ragingloli is what @ragingloli is, and lives in Germany, I’m pretty sure, or maybe not, I don’t know. ;-)
