Is "rtf" format "Rich Text File?"?

“Great Question” (0points)

I have instructions to create a file in Word, then save it in rtf format.
Also, out of curiosity, what does rtf do vs .doc?

It s “Plain Jane/John” text. It is readable by most Word Processing programs.

DOC and DOCX are Microsoft proprietary formats and are not always immediately usable by another system

RTF is somewhat of a generic equivalent. It retains some formatting (underline, bold, for example) which makes it more sophisticated than a plain TEXT or TXT file, but RTF is generally accepted by other systems (MAC, for example).

It’s a small step above a plain text file.
