“Great Question” (4points)

On an earlier post This CNN story with video was given as an example of cruel and unusual punishment. Now, you do not have to watch the video but please look at the first section of the article.
The fifth paragraph, highlighted in blue, wants your opinion about Obama.
This question is not about your feelings on Obama but, in your opinion, is asking this in the middle of a story about eating body parts a case of the media trying to manipulate results, just poor editing, good editing or simply someone not thinking along the same lines as I do?

The article proves the wise choice Obama is making by staying out of the conflict. I don’t care who wins because both sides look barbaric. At this point President Assad seems to hold the high ground. Although he leads his own Baath party, he is no Saddam Hussein. I vote that we stay out of this revolution and we defiantly should not be providing weapons to the rebels. Let them sort out their own problems and we’ll deal with the winners.

Experience has shown that the more we involved we are in Middle-Eastern politics the more our reputation and treasury suffers. We should pull back from all involvement in the middle east and only work on trading with them. The whole Middle-East consists of primitive tribes trying to emulate real government. Their traditions and religion prevents them from becoming democratic. The best that they can hope for is a leader that forces them into the 21st century. That leader must come from the inside and not imposed from the outside, especially not from the U.S.

I can see your point and if it was another news service I might think it was deliberate but I’ll give CNN the benefit of the doubt. The video was released by Assad’s side as propaganda to discredit the rebels and it has been effective. In war everything is propaganda designed to influence public opinion. Madness takes over and people trying to get on with their lives are tossed about like leaves in the wind.

That was originally my link and I really should have looked for a source that dealt only with the act itself. I was in a hurry and that was the first site google threw out.

Yes I think all news agencies prepare their material in a fashion that steers peoples’ opinions in the direction they want. I don’t think it makes any difference is the news source is CNN, Fox or Sky, they all have their specific agendas. And we, the consuming public, usually choose the one that most conforms with our particular ideology.

I would trust a journalist about as well as a seedy used car salesman. In fact, I might have a better chance with the seedy used car salesman. They do this crap all the time, on any issue, including CNN, ESPN, NBC, FOX, you name it.
