For a while, Ron Howard was attached to direct it and they were going to do movies and TV shows. It look like there are talks again and it might be on the table. Honestly, I’m quite happy with the books; I finally finished Vol. VII about a year ago, and thought they were all brilliant. The ending was unique. I think it means each time Roland will get a little closer, the circumstances will change a little bit, and the outcome might be a little different.
Anywho, there are certain books that I think should remain books, and although I loved the stories, I’d probably skip the movies. That’s how I feel about the “Hunger Games,” too. They just clicked in my head so well, that I think I might be offended by them. However, if King were on the project – and I don’t mean executive producer, – if he was actually writing it, then I might give it a shot. I do like Ron Howard, and if it were an HBO series, maybe… but I don’t think it will work. It’s just too epic.
Oh, and “Wind Trouugh the Keyhole” was really, really good. That could be a great stand-alone movie. Set in Mid-World, but you don’t have to be a Dark Tower junkie – or even a King junkie – to enjoy it.
