The local classic rock radio seems to always play the same 40 songs. Which are great! But I have to know, are there any gems from back in the day that we don’t hear about now?

My favorites are usually laid back/flowy music like Neil Young,” Emerson, Lake, and Palmer, or The Moody Blues, so I’m especially interested in music along those lines. But this is a general thread for everything!

We have a classic rock station that plays a lot of the music that I listened to growing up, Bon Jovi, Van Halen, the Scorpions, Warrant, etc.
First of all, WTH?, it makes me feel old! Second, they really don’t play anything that wasn’t fairly popular either.

My son listens to a lot of music from the 70’s and 80’s that I’d never heard. King Crimson, Thin Lizzy, old David Bowie, old Genesis. The list goes on. I’m honestly not ever sure how he finds this stuff.

I always laugh and ask him why he doesn’t listen to AX7 or Pitbull like a normal 18 year old. His response? Because it horrible mom. I have no idea how you can stand to listen to it.

So basically, I listen to what people his age listen to, and he listens to what people my age listen to.

Buffalo Springfield (I love Sit Down I Think I Love You specifically and that entire album generally). All one hears on the radio of Buffalo Springfield is For What it’s Worth. FYI Neil Young was one of the original members.) It is also worth going beyond the singles of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Simon and Garfunkel, T-Rex, The Lovin Spoonful, The Hollies,The Kinks, and The Who. Of course there is no one like Mr. Bobby Dylan who is kind of in a class by himself and with the exception of a few songs, doesn’t get much radio airplay.

I love The Who, in general they are pretty mainstream but they have one song, “Blue, Red, and Gray” which is slower, mellow, sad and happy at the same time, and, in my opinion, so beautiful. I am not sure where you can find it, I believe I have found it on youtube before, but it is not a common song of theirs. It is on the album The Who By Numbers, I think.

@deni have you heard Getting in Tune, one of The Who’s most beautiful, heartbreaking songs. It is on Who’s Next, their best album IMO. I love Roger Daltry’s voice, it is one of the best of the era and of all time (again IMO).
