I got thrush from using an inhaler and forgetting to rinse out my mouth afterwards. It ran across the tip of my tongue from one side to the other. I started out by using apple cider vinegar, swishing it around in my mouth for a few minutes. I could feel the vinegar fizzing where the thrush was. After the first session, the evidence was gone, but the thrush came right back because I was using sugar based cough drops, and yeast loves sugar. The next time I used the vinegar my tongue was quite sore because I had some pretty raw places on it where the thrush was.
Today I bought some gentian violet and tried that. It’s messy, it stains, and it turns your tongue purple. You have to be very careful to dry out your mouth before you apply it, which I did. Then I sat there trying to let the gentian violet dry on my tongue as much as possible. I put cotton balls in my mouth to soak up saliva and sat there with my tongue hanging out for a while.
It left a bitter taste in my mouth, and for several hours I spit out my saliva rather than swallow it, but so far the results are excellent.
I hate to use artificial sweetener, but for the time being I’m going to use sugar free cough drops until this problem is resolved.
