Who has played with emulators and ROMs?

I downloaded this ROM of Final Fantasy III, a fan translated version, from coolrom.com a while ago. I use the NES emulator FCEUltra, btw. And it’s always worked just fine ever since I downloaded it years ago.

I finally got around to wanting to play FFIII, and I started it and did a few things got to a couple towns, and then saved my game. When I exited the emulator, I got an error saying something like “WRAM file (and then it has the path in my files to where my FF Rom is except it has a folder I don’t have for saved games) cannot be written to” And then when I play the game again, my saved game is gone. For some reason it’s not saving the game. I wonder if anyone has come up with an error like this or what this could mean. I tried making a subfolder that I thought it needed for saved games, but that didn’t work, the error still came up.
