I’m an Albertan home schooler. The government requires you to sign up with a home school board and there are a lot to choose from.
You get funding depending on how closely you follow the Albertan curriculum. The lowest level is traditional and that nets you about $700 a year per child. Blended is slightly higher and fully aligned is higher funding still.
I am a traditional home schooler. I find that allows me the greatest amount of flexibility. If my kids want to spend a year studying Rome they can. They aren’t married to any timeline but their own. My youngest two are planning on knocking out two provincial exams a year for the next two years plus studying their passions.
If you have any other questions just ask :)
