You need to talk to your doctor first and foremost. Scar tissue can cause pain as you grow if you have scar tissue from an operation. If you had to take large doses of steroids, they can effect growth, but at 16, there is no way to say your growth has been ‘stunted’. Some boys don’t get their growth spurt until 18 – 21. I would absolutely talk to your doctor more about the pain you are feeling and undergo a full check up.

Never screw with chest pain. See your doc ASAP. You could not be getting enough oxygen. But you’re asking a bunch of us gobbers to diagnose something that could be life threatening?

Do you take asthma medication? The son of a friend of mine whose son had a very small trachea took asthma meds at one point and it stunted his growth. She and her husband felt strongly it was reated and that he did not have asthma and took him of the meds against doctors orders. Do NOT stop any meds you are taking wihtout the help of your parents. they were very scared, but they stopped the meds and his breathing was not any worse, and he started to grow again within a few weeks. A couple years later it was reported the drug was slowing down growth in children. He was a young teen when he was taking the drug.

Chest pain could easily be just a muscle in the chest wall cramping. I got that a lot when I was a teenager.

Does the pain happen on one side or both? Or, in the center? Is it towards the left after you eat? The pain gets worse if you take a deep breath? The pain does not affect your breathing? On the right and extremely painful?

Do you get constipated?

It could possibly be esophageal spasms; that can be caused by caffeine, acid reflux, or anything else that might irritate the esophagus. But definitely, ask your doctor.
