The only thing I can think of is stuck like glue. There must be something better. It would be a helpful metaphor for a reputation, a friendship, group loyalty, or the way that Christianity views sins as sticking to the soul.

and

But since those are clichés, we should come up with something new. Maybe you want a better image than that second one, anyway. Better than “like a hungry dog on a bone”, too.

For the record, My stink on a pig remark had no meaning other than pigs really smell. I wasn’t targeting it towards Christians or any religious group. But I probably offended at least two religious groups and maybe more. I apologize and did not mean any offense.

The problem with the expression is that there aren’t a lot of “good things” that stick to one faithfully. Oh, I suppose “a loyal dog” is one, and “a shadow” is another, but they don’t really convey the “good feeling” that you’re trying for here.

If you want “bad things”, then it’s easy:
stuck to him like a bad reputation (good ones don’t “stick”)
stuck to her like a flimsy, wet shower curtain in a drafty bathroom
stuck to his shirt like dripping spaghetti sauce
even
stuck like a head on a pike – an image I’ll have to use someday.

Even your own example image of “sins stuck to the soul” isn’t a particularly appealing one.

Maybe you need to rework the metaphor or simile.
