A large salad with lettuce, tomatoes, spinach, feta, salami chunks, Greek olives, green onions, and walnuts served with olive oil, lemon juice and red wine vinegar, salt & pepper dressing.
Kadaifi or baklava and fresh fruit for dessert.
A few weeks ago I had some Korean potato salad, different from the regular kinds that I’m used to but in a subtle way. Great stuff. I’ll have to find a source now.
Mix about a cup of fresh or canned, diced white chicken meat with a TBS of Ceasar dressing,
2 TBS mayo, a wee bit of finely about a ⅓ cup of slivered almonds and the same of minced red table grapes. Stuff into pita pockets and garnish with red leaf lettuce. Yummy!
Doogh. It’s the most refreshing summer drink I’ve ever had. My roomie mixes it with regular filtered water instead of carbonated, and uses dill rather than mint, and no cumin and I think no honey either – though I suspect it’s mostly a factor of what we have in the house at the moment. I know that the salt level is more important than this recipe makes it out to be – don’t be afraid to add a good bit, to taste. The “g” is silent, by the way.
I love hummus and pita bread and can’t imagine not eating it without lots of feta cheese. For me it would be like eating lox on a bagel without cream cheese.
